ResponsibilitiesThe Department of at the University of Rochester invites applications for a full time therapist position to join the Collaborative Care & Wellness Division and Department of Neurology. The mental health therapist will collaborate with psychiatrists, neurologists, surgeons, advanced practice providers, social workers, and other professionals. Responsibilities include short‑term mental health services for individuals with diagnosable psychiatric conditions, assessment, consultation, treatment planning, and therapy/counseling in a biopsychosocial model.
EssentialFunctions
- Perform complex psychosocial assessments and diagnostic formulations for patients.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with therapeutic goals.
- Conduct evidence‑informed treatment with patients and families as necessary.
- Provide direct individual therapy to assigned patients.
- Meet minimum target for clinical productivity set by service director.
- Conduct direct clinical evaluation services for assigned patients.
- Provide direct family therapy, crisis intervention, and evaluation as needed.
- Assess completion of therapeutic goals and plan termination of therapy accordingly.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment team to coordinate care.
- Engage with referral sources and external professionals throughout patient care activities.
- Coordinate with support staff regarding scheduling, fees, and insurance issues.
- Document treatment in patient’s electronic medical record in compliance with regulations.
- Attend new staff orientation and required departmental trainings.
- Maintain professional standards, continuing education, and licensure requirements.
- Engage in annual performance review process with Program Director and supervisor.
- Master’s degree from a CACREP accredited program with major coursework in mental health counseling, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Implement evidence‑informed psychotherapeutic interventions.
- Commit to a biopsychosocial approach to care of individuals and families.
- Deliver a team‑based integrated model of care.
- Demonstrate cultural humility, anti‑racism values, and a dedication to welcoming all patients.
- NYS licensure as a mental health practitioner (e.g., Mental Health Counselor, Creative Arts Therapist) upon hire required.
- Or if licensure has not been obtained upon employment, an active limited permit or submitted application to the NYS Department of Education is required upon hire.
- NYS licensure as a mental health practitioner within 36 months required.
