Patient Access Rep - Per Diem

Organization: Smilow Cancer Hospital

Overview

Patient Access Representatives are the first people to meet and greet patients. As the ‘Face’ of the hospital, they present a welcoming and receptive demeanor, ensure accurate patient identification, process payments, handle inquiries, and facilitate daily cash receipt deposits. Responsibilities
  • Present a welcoming and receptive demeanor to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Ensure each patient registered for care is properly identified.
  • Process patient payments and handle inquiries at the cash window.
  • Refer inquiries to appropriate Patient Account Representatives.
  • Perform daily cash receipt deposit functions.
  • Achieve and maintain a 95% accuracy rate in registration information.
  • Support customer satisfaction initiatives.
  • Facilitate Time of Service (TOS) collection as directed by hospital policy.
  • Attend all required safety training programs and describe responsibilities related to safety.
  • Follow exposure control plans for blood borne and airborne pathogens.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional environment with patients and staff.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required; B.S./B.A./A.A. or some college preferred.
  • Experience in a professional customer‑service setting preferred.
  • Continuous demonstration of team orientation and customer‑focused behaviors.
  • Certification as Certified Patient Accounts Technician (C.P.A.T.) preferred.
Special Skills
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Insurance experience required.
  • Strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Team‑building skills.
