Employment Type: Part-time leadership role (15–25 hrs/week, variable by cycle)
Metro Sports & Entertainment Group is a digital sports and media company using gaming and esports to engage, educate, and empower communities.
We design, build, and operate esports and STEM facilities inside YMCAs and community organizations, transforming them into hubs for gaming, learning, creativity, and connection. With locations across Pennsylvania, New York, Alabama, and Rhode Island, Metro delivers esports leagues, tech & STEM courses, camps, and community events that bridge play, education, and real-world career pathways.
As we grow, our priority is not just expansion — it’s excellence, consistency, and impact at every site.
The Role: Regional Program Coordinator (Northeast)
The Regional Program Coordinator (RPC) is a hands-on program leader and quality owner for Metro Esports’ Northeast region.
This role is based in Rochester or Westerly and currently supports three YMCA sites. The RPC ensures that every program — from esports leagues and STEM courses to monthly events — launches smoothly, runs with intention, and meets Metro’s and YMCA's standards for quality, consistency, and participant experience. This role has the potential to grow as Metro continues expanding. This is not a passive admin role and not simply a coaching position.
It requires someone who can think strategically, organize rigorously, communicate clearly, and occasionally step on-site when it matters most.
- Plan, refine, and maintain regional program offerings across esports and tech/STEM
- Develop, revise, and organize program operation documents and curriculum
- Contribute to Metro’s program snapshot and cycle planning process
- Ensure all programs are fully prepared before launch (curriculum, materials, accounts, permissions, equipment readiness)
- Continuously improve programs based on feedback, outcomes, and best practices
- Coordinate with instructors and program leads to ensure alignment and preparedness
- Be present on-site for:
- New program launches
- New instructors
- High-impact or flagship programs
- Support and guide instructors to ensure consistent delivery and experience quality
- Train and prepare each program lead and instructor to ensure program quality across the region. Coordinate with instructors and program leads.
- Monitor and address program quality across all sites
- Uphold Metro’s standards for participant experience, safety, and professionalism
- Track attendance, registration trends, and program outcomes
- Collect and apply feedback from participants, families, instructors, and partners
- Identify meaningful, cost-effective improvements to programs and delivery
- Communicate progress, challenges, and needs to leadership consistently
- Collaborate closely with regional and central leadership teams
- Participate in regular regional leadership meetings
- Communicate with YMCA partners as needed around program planning and execution
- Engage with the local gaming and tech community to strengthen awareness and participation
- Take ownership of program success — from planning through follow-up
This role requires a very specific kind of candidate. The ideal Regional Program Coordinator is someone who:
- Thinks critically about program design and participant experience
- Is highly organized and comfortable managing many moving pieces
- Communicates proactively and clearly
- Can balance planning, documentation, and on-site leadership
- Treats programs and SOPs as living systems that require constant refinement
- Is comfortable holding standards and giving constructive feedback
- Enjoys building systems, not just running sessions
This role is ideal for someone with experience in:
- Esports or gaming programs
- STEM or tech education
- Youth programming or community programs
- Event or program coordination
- YMCA or nonprofit programming environments
