Position Overview
The Westbrook High School Girls Tennis Coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and managing all aspects of the high school tennis program. The coach will foster a positive, inclusive team culture that reflects the values of Westbrook Athletics — sportsmanship, integrity, work ethic, and community pride. The ideal candidate has strong tennis knowledge, an ability to teach fundamentals and strategy, and a commitment to supporting student-athletes academically, socially, and emotionally.

• Plan and conduct daily practices that develop fundamental skills, match strategy, and overall tennis IQ
• Coach student-athletes during matches, including setting lineups, providing in-match adjustments, and managing court rotations
• Teach and model sportsmanship, competitive character, and strong work habits
• Provide instruction appropriate for all levels - from beginners to competitive players
• Support academic expectations and monitor academic eligibility in partnership with the Athletic Director
• Promote player safety at all times, following district, MPA, and USTA guidelines
• Coordinate with the Athletic Director regarding practice schedules, match schedules, transportation, and facility needs
• Communicate effectively and consistently with families, athletes, and school administration
• Maintain tennis equipment, uniforms, and inventory; report needs and repairs
• Attend all required league, district, and MPA coaches  meetings and trainings
• Ensure compliance with Westbrook School Department policies, including behavior expectations, eligibility, and Title IX regulations

• Required: Knowledge of tennis rules, fundamentals, and coaching techniques.
• Ability to teach skill development to athletes with varying levels of experience.
• Must meet all MPA coaching certification requirements (including CHRC, CPR/First Aid, and concussion training).

• Prior coaching experience at the high school or youth level.
• Playing experience in high school, college, or USTA competition.
• Experience developing practice plans and individualized athlete instruction.
• Desire to build and grow the tennis program through recruitment and community engagement.

Stipend per Westbrook Education Association (WEA) contract, based on experience and district coaching scale.
