Overview

Position Summary
Within Maine Health’s ambulatory pharmacy program, the pharmacy technician will be a part of our growing Hemostasis and Thrombosis program. In this role, the pharmacy technician will help clinical pharmacists provide medication therapy for anticoagulant, antiplatelet, and hemostatic agents.

Responsibilities
  • Assists clinical pharmacists with core functions of anticoagulation care within the clinic.
  • Provides appropriate healthcare education and follows protocols related to specific clinics.
  • Prepares and maintains patient charts for each encounter within the electronic health record.
  • Ensures proper documentation of INR results, patient contact via telephone, and any other pertinent information regarding patient care.
  • Triages phone calls and refers to appropriate providers.
  • Assists with processing of prescription claims and investigation into patient affordability, as needed.
  • Provides direct patient care and specimen collection within the scope of practice in the State of Maine.
  • Maintains a clean work environment and follows all Maine Health standards for fire, safety, and infection prevention.

  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • License/

    Certifications:

    Current or eligible for applicable state(s) license as a Pharmacy Technician.
