Job Description

The Westborough Public Schools seek a 2nd shift Custodian to join our staff at Mill Pond Elementary School, effective immediately. We are a high-performing district focused on academic excellence, equity and wellness.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Performs cleaning tasks in accordance with district procedures and building leadership.
  • Maintains health and safety protocols and cleaning/sanitizing procedures.
  • Keeps building and premises neat and clean; maintains sidewalks, driveways and play areas.
  • Operates maintenance equipment and handles snow removal activities as needed.
  • Checks doors and panic devices during occupancy hours; maintains building security.
  • Performs daily cleaning of classrooms and common areas; dusts, disinfects and maintains fixtures.
  • Performs minor repairs and reports major repairs promptly to the head custodian/principal.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and requisitions replacements as needed.
  • Complies with local laws for storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.
  • Assists with moving furniture and equipment as required; supports lunch personnel as needed.
  • Uses cleaning and maintenance equipment (e.g., auto scrubber, vacuum, rug cleaner).
Qualifications
  • Preferably skilled in basic custodial procedures.
  • Ability to relate to and deal effectively with staff, teachers, students.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with children and adults.
  • Must be able to lift and move at least 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to perform tasks involving squatting, kneeling, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, walking, climbing, carrying, and repetitive motions.
  • CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.

Requires ability to perform duties involving squatting, kneeling, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, walking, climbing, carrying, and repetitive motions; ability to move about and traverse the school building and grounds. Typical shift requires walking several miles within the building and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The 2nd Shift Custodian does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Salary, Benefits and Duties

Salary and benefits per contract between the Westborough School Committee and the AFL-CIO, State Council 93, Local #1709, School Custodian Employees.

Job Requirements
