The Mechanical Engineer designs automated packaging, sortation, and labeling platforms to enable faster, more efficient delivery operations.
Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Responsibilities- Provide technical ownership and continuous refinement of packaging, sortation, and labeling automation systems.
- Collaborate with Electrical Engineers, Controls Engineers, packaging designers, and materials scientists to execute the design, development, and manufacturing of automation platforms.
- Lead project and platform design evolution, ensuring systems are optimized for automation, manufacturing efficiency, and scalability.
- Drive the development of packaging machinery and automation modules, ensuring solutions are simple, effective, and cost‑efficient.
- Champion sustainable packaging practices, streamlined supply–chain integration, and reduced total cost of ownership.
- Proficiency in 3D design and simulation software including but not limited to Solid Works, ANSYS, CATIA, and Creo.
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
- Expertise in mechanical design and engineering of automation systems.
- Strong in manufacturing processes, automation modules, and system integration.
- Experience in packaging machinery, sortation systems, and labeling platforms.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
Skills & Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
- 8+ years of design experience for industrial automation.
- History of integrating solutions and designing machine and sheet‑metal components.
- Experience with metal parts, sheet‑metal, injection molding, large systems, or subsystems.
- Understanding of failure points and capability to design before building in CAD.
This is a Contract position based out of Westborough, MA.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $59.80 - $62.41/hr.
