Role Overview
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Test Engineering team supporting robotics and automation hardware testing across North America. This role will be based out of Westborough with extensive travel (75% of the time) to support hardware functionality testing, test plan execution, and quality validation of robotic and automation systems at scale.
Responsibilities Test Plan Development & Execution- Create and execute test plans for straightforward scenarios involving electromechanical components and systems
- Develop test cases for hardware functional requirements, including down to components level
- Execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) procedures following established protocols
- Assess and report on quality of components and features tested
- Analyze change requests and provide recommendations on test scope and product behavior impact
- Work with some guidance from senior Test Engineers, Engineering Leads, and Engineering Manager
- Conduct hands-on hardware functionality testing of robotic and automation systems, sensors, actuators, and control systems
- Perform troubleshooting and isolate bugs to help engineers with root cause analysis
- Validate system performance against KPI-driven requirements
- Document test results, defects, and non-conformance reports (NCRs) with technical precision
- Collect and analyze test data using Excel and other tracking tools
- Execute pre-defined test procedures with attention to detail
- Develop simple test tools and scripts to reduce manual testing effort
- Create and maintain automation scripts with senior peer review
- Make configuration changes and modify/extend test cases as needed
- Document work clearly for future testers
- Work closely with Test Engineers, Hardware Development Engineers, and site operations teams
- Communicate test results and quality metrics to engineering leadership
- Participate in defect triage, test planning, scoping, and prioritization discussions
- Take ownership of problems and drive resolution or proper hand-off
- Seek guidance from peers or manager in difficult test scenarios
- Travel extensively across North America for on-site testing
- Travel will be from Monday/Tuesday - Friday. Will always return on the weekends.
- Support hardware deployments with test execution in field environments
- Adapt to new testing requirements and work independently on defined tasks
- Coordinate with site operations to minimize testing impact on production
- Assist with team action plans and process improvements
- Learn and apply test methodologies and best practices
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering:
Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Mechatronics - Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Experience
- 2-3 years of professional QA/testing experience post-college
- Experience testing electromechanical systems, robotics, automation equipment, or industrial machinery
Technical Skills
- Hardware Testing:
Hands-on experience testing electromechanical systems and automation equipment - Test Methodologies:
Basic knowledge of test planning, test case design, defect tracking - Core Testing Techniques:
Skilled in requirement verification, and state transition testing - Technical Documentation:
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams - Diagnostic Tools:
Experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, data loggers, and other diagnostic equipment - Scripting (Basic):
Basic knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or similar scripting languages - PLC Knowledge (Preferred):
Familiarity with PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi) for troubleshooting

- Knowledge of safety standards and compliance testing (OSHA, ANSI)
- Field service experience across multiple sites
