Base pay range$18.00/hr - $19.00/hr
Job Description Work Schedule- Standard shift: 8 hours per day (overtime as applicable)
- Staggered shift structure with a team of 3
- On-call rotation: every 3 weeks
- Rotation length: 2-3 weeks
- Each team member is responsible for after-hours and weekend call coverage per rotation schedule
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating domestic and/or international movement of assets, products, and materials upon request from the Business Line. This role focuses on optimizing equipment utilization, selecting cost‑effective transportation methods, ensuring compliance with regulations, and achieving on‑time delivery through effective planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the logistics focal point for assigned Business Line movements
- Validate transport requests and required delivery dates for assigned geographic regions or lanes
- Prepare equipment load plans in accordance with planning standard operating procedures to maximize utilization
- Select cost‑effective routings and modes of transport using approved carriers and third‑party logistics providers
- Leverage planning and rate‑checking tools to achieve competitive transportation costs using preferred contracted rates
- Plan and book shipments while maximizing consolidation, cargo optimization, and backhaul opportunities
- Monitor shipment execution, track movements, and manage deviations while keeping stakeholders informed
- Manage weekly fixed schedules and regional milk runs
- Issue work orders prior to each move, including associated cost approvals
- Identify logistics network improvement opportunities
- Ensure full compliance with international and domestic transportation regulations
- Monitor cargo movement performance and investigate deviations
- Implement proactive and corrective measures when early warning signs of deviation are identified
- Assess carrier performance related to on‑time pickup and delivery
- Ensure logistics movements comply with company policies, processes, and applicable local regulations, including finance, personnel, logistics guidelines, and QHSE requirements
- Ensure proper electronic document storage within business systems
- Interface with Import/Export teams to maintain effective communication and smooth operations
- Participate in performance analysis meetings
- Capture and monitor logistics milestone data in business systems
- Report deviations in the incident tracking system and follow up on action plans to support continuous service improvement
- Obtain freight cost approvals and evaluate freight forwarder bids through the bidding system
- Forklift, overhead crane, and breakout machine operation; training can be provided if no prior overhead crane or breakout machine experience
