Kongsberg Discovery creates today's and next-generation underwater technology that helps our clients explore and understand marine life and the ocean space. The technology we build is used by vessels, research ships and underwater vehicles around the world - every single day. Echo sounders, ADCP, sensors and systems that use sound to map the marine life, the seabed and the water column in some of the world's most demanding environments.

With us, you will develop software from scratch from initial sketches to the finished product. Y ou will work closely with other developers , team leads , architects and product owners in develop ing the products throughout their entire life cycle . With us you don't just get to be part of a team that develops modern software - you will also get to see how the user experiences it at sea.

We have two of our own test vessels in Horten where we take our software products for live testing and feedback :

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Echo S ounder Team . We encourage both junior and senior developers to appl y for this role. Y ou will develop ing cutting-edge software for Ocean Science, Fishery, and Mapping sectors :

Develop ing and maintain ing software interfacing with proprietary hydroacoustic sensors with implementation of complex high-performance algorithms .

Collaborat ing with hardware and firmware teams to ensure system performance and reliability.

Participat ing in agile development, testing, and integration—both in lab environments and aboard vessels.

Work ing with global software teams to build reusable modules for high-performance applications.

Experiences we believe are important to succeed in this role :

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science /A pplied mathematics /R elated technical field – OR similar professional experience within this field .

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills , with the ability to collaborate in teams but also being self-going .

Proficiency in modern object-oriented languages (e.g. C#/C++ ) .

Beneficial with knowledge/experience with Matlab .

Knowledge/experience with modern software engineering methodology , patterns and tools.

Knowledge/e xperience in software testing and verification.

Good language skills in both Norwegian and English.

Beneficial with knowledge / experience with hydroacoustic sensors .
