Location: Gallipolis Ferry
As the Mechanic
, you will perform general mechanic maintenance activities in a chemical production plant atmosphere to keep the production units and supporting facilities in the utmost reliable working condition. The Mechanic is expected to use sound judgment and broad-based mechanical knowledge to make decisions and repairs that will contribute to the overall plant efficiency, objectives, and policies.
- Perform work in compliance with chemical plant and specific area safety regulations, including wearing/using all Personal Protective Equipment such as FR clothing, hard hat, safety glasses, chemical protective clothing, full face respirators, SCBA, etc.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair various types of mechanical equipment including, but not limited to, pumps, valves, compressors, reactors, tanks, heat exchangers, miscellaneous rotating equipment, etc.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Replace, align, and repair industrial mechanical and electrical machinery and equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Candidates should meet one of the following criteria:
- Certification Path:
- Possess a valid and current certification in welding, electrical and/or instrumentation. Valid and current certifications include a Certified Journeyman Electrician, a Certified Welder, an ACS Certified Instrumentation Technician, a trade school certification in Instrumentation, and/or any USW certifications for Electricians, Welders, and Instrumentation Technicians.
- Experience Path:
- At least 5 years of direct and relevant experience as a welder, electrician, and/or instrumentation technician within the 6-year period immediately preceding the bid or application.
- Combination Path:
- Have achieved a valid welding certificate and have had at least one year of relevant work experience that has included welding as a primary job task; or within 5 years from the bid/application.
- Certification Path:
- Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, sketches, and plans, and interpret specifications and instructions to support the replacement, troubleshooting, repair, and alignment of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Experience with rotating and compression equipment is preferred.
- Understanding of basic mechanical and/or chemical concepts and safety.
- Strong environmental, health, and safety (EHS) cultural awareness.
- Ability to regularly move and/or lift up to 100lbs (occasional 100lb lifts) and climb stairs and/or ladders while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Willing and able to pivot to complete different tasks throughout the day.
- Effective communication skills both oral and written.
- Able to work a shift schedule and occasional overtime when needed.
- Successful candidate must be able to work with controlled technology in accordance with US export control laws and regulations.
