Position: Advanced Heavy Equipment Operator - Fixed Term Civil Project - Fayetteville, WV

Position Overview

Beitzel Corporation is seeking experienced Advanced Heavy Equipment Operators to support an exciting, large‑scale civil project scheduled to run from April through September in the Fayetteville, WV area. This is a fixed‑term, project‑based opportunity ideal for skilled operators looking to put their expertise to work on a defined, high‑impact project from start to finish.

In this role, you'll support the Civil Services Group by operating heavy equipment and assisting with hands‑on civil work such as erosion control and stormwater installation, demolition and land clearing, site development, mass and fine grading, road construction, utility installation, and site restoration activities including seeding and mulching.

This position is designed for operators with expert‑level knowledge of civil construction and excavation who take pride in quality work, safety, and productivity. Projects support a wide range of industries— including construction, manufacturing, power generation, aggregates, oil and gas, and renewable energy—and offer the opportunity to be part of a focused team delivering results on a critical schedule.

Candidates must be familiar with Beitzel Corporation's services, comfortable with a flexible schedule, and willing to travel or work extended hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight assignments as project needs require.

What You’ll Do
  • Safely and efficiently operate industry‑specific heavy equipment such as dozers and excavators to meet project specifications, achieve planned grades, etc.
  • Effectively achieve fine grade with and without GPS technology
  • Coordinate with project management to load the correct grade control files into pieces of equipment when required
  • Read and interpret blueprints and customer specifications
  • Lead and aid other field personnel with general labor and the operation of general excavation equipment to include haul trucks, skid steers, compactors, etc.
  • Lead and perform daily equipment inspections and assist with general equipment maintenance and minor repairs as required
  • Provide daily documentation to include job safety analysis, quality inspections, production reports, worksite status updates, fuel logs, equipment inspections, etc.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in a professional and workman‑like manner
  • Lead and assist with site staging to include unloading trucks and equipment when required
Working Conditions
  • Sit, talk, hear, read, and write
  • Perform repetitive tasks in an environment that includes excessive noise, vibrations, dust, and other environmental factors
  • Regularly walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to kneel, stoop, twist, bend, squat, and climb
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work at heights or in confined spaces
  • Works indoors and outdoors in all types of weather
  • Perform duties on‑site to include walking for extended periods of time on uneven terrain
What You’ll Bring
  • 5+ years of civil or excavation experience preferred
  • Mastery level experience in both a dozer and excavator required
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate a wide variety of excavation equipment
  • Ability to configure and utilize GPS technology in excavation equipment and ability to achieve fine grade with or without GPS technology
  • Experience with general equipment maintenance and machine care
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings
