Overview
Beitzel Corporation is seeking experienced Advanced Heavy Equipment Operators to support a large-scale civil project scheduled to run from April through September in the Fayetteville, WV area. This is a fixed-term, project-based opportunity ideal for skilled operators looking to contribute on a defined, high-impact project from start to finish. You will support the Civil Services Group by operating heavy equipment and assisting with hands-on civil work such as erosion control and stormwater installation, demolition and land clearing, site development, mass and fine grading, road construction, utility installation, and site restoration activities including seeding and mulching.
This position is designed for operators with expert-level knowledge of civil construction and excavation who take pride in quality work, safety, and productivity. Projects support a wide range of industries—including construction, manufacturing, power generation, aggregates, oil and gas, and renewable energy—and offer the opportunity to be part of a focused team delivering results on a critical schedule. Candidates must be familiar with Beitzel Corporation’s services, comfortable with a flexible schedule, and willing to travel or work extended hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight assignments as project needs require.

- Safely and efficiently operate industry-specific heavy equipment such as dozers and excavators to meet project specifications and achieve planned grades.
- Effectively achieve fine grade with and without GPS technology.
- Coordinate with project management to load the correct grade control files into equipment when required.
- Read and interpret blueprints and customer specifications.
- Lead and aid other field personnel with general labor and operation of excavation equipment including haul trucks, skid steers, and compactors.
- Lead and perform daily equipment inspections and assist with general equipment maintenance and minor repairs as required.
- Provide daily documentation including job safety analyses, quality inspections, production reports, worksite status updates, fuel logs, and equipment inspections.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in a professional manner.
- Lead and assist with site staging, including unloading trucks and equipment as required.
- 5+ years of civil or excavation experience preferred.
- Mastery level experience in both dozer and excavator required.
- Ability to safely and effectively operate a wide variety of excavation equipment.
- Ability to configure and utilize GPS technology in excavation equipment and achieve fine grade with or without GPS.
- Experience with general equipment maintenance and machine care.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
- Sit, talk, hear, read, and write; perform repetitive tasks in environments with noise, dust, and other factors.
- Regularly walk; use hands to handle objects; reach with hands and arms; kneel, stoop, twist, bend, squat, and climb.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; work at heights or in confined spaces; work indoors and outdoors in all weather.
- Must be willing to travel, work extended hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight assignments as project needs require.
