The Department of Industrial Engineering at Clemson University invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral fellow position in the areas of biomechanics, ergonomics, and human factors. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in collaborative, funded research projects focused on human performance assessment, the design and evaluation of assistive technologies for occupational and rehabilitation applications, and exploring aging-related changes in neuromuscular mechanisms of human movement.

This full-time postdoctoral fellowship will last 1-2 years, depending on the start date and the fellow’s performance. The fellow will work with the research team to achieve project goals and develop an independent research project. Fellows are required to participate in the dissemination of research findings and will receive support for attending national research conferences to present their results. Fellows are expected and encouraged to:

  • Lead a multidisciplinary research team in project management, data collection, and analysis in areas of biomechanics, human factors, and ergonomics.
  • Contribute to proposal development, manuscript preparation, and presentations for scientific journals and conferences in biomechanics, ergonomics, and human factors.
  • Develop an independent research project that can serve as a foundation for future grant submissions as a principal investigator (PI).
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students involved in the project.

The fellow will be eligible to participate in professional development, educational, and training activities at Clemson University. This position provides a collaborative environment within an interdisciplinary research group across engineering and healthcare fields. The salary is aligned with NIH postdoctoral pay scales.

Qualifications
Applicants should meet the following criteria: a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering or a related field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering); strong oral and written communication skills; a preferred record of research accomplishments and publications in top academic journals; and experience in human performance assessment and in evaluating assistive technologies for occupational and rehabilitation applications, which will be considered an advantage.
