Location: Grafton
Step into a key nursing role within a vibrant Stepdown/Med Surg unit in Grafton, WV. This contract opportunity spans 13 weeks, offering an engaging environment caring for patients with diverse medical needs including respiratory issues, weakness, UTIs, AKI, and chest pain. The unit manages a 20-bed capacity with ratios of 1:3 in Stepdown and 1:5-6 on the Med Surg floor, supported by nurse aides and respiratory therapists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled nursing care on Stepdown/Med Surg unit.
- Titrate drips such as heparin, insulin, Cardizem, and amiodarone according to patient needs.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpreting telemetry strips as part of patient care.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to manage patient care efficiently.
- Participate in unit-specific orientation to understand protocols and standards.
- Work a 12-hour shift with an average of three weekend shifts per four-week schedule and rotating holiday shifts.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Current RN license with Stepdown nursing experience.
- Certification in BLS and ACLS required.
- Ability to manage patients requiring telemetry monitoring and various respiratory support devices including CPAP and BiPAP.
- Experience working with titratable drip medications.
- Familiarity with charge nurse or house supervisor duties is a plus.
- Must comply with the 50-mile radius license rule and provide an unexpired driver's license upon submission.
