A nursing opportunity is available for experienced Registered Nurses on a medical-surgical and oncology unit in Follansbee, WV. This contract role offers a dynamic workplace supporting patients with conditions like pneumonia, urinary tract infections, GI bleeds, and alcohol withdrawal. The setting involves a 48-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:5-7 on days to 1:6-8 at night, ensuring a well-managed patient load.
Key

Qualifications and Skills:

* Active RN license

* Minimum of 1 year nursing experience; first-time travel nurses are welcome

* Certifications required: BLS; ACLS preferred

* Ability to titrate drips such as heparin, bumex, and lasix (excluding cardiac drips)

* Competence in vital signs monitoring, blood glucose monitoring, EKG application, and basic patient care including bathing, feeding, and positioning

* Flexibility to float to other medical-surgical or intermediate care units as needed

Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring patient vitals, collaborating with respiratory therapists who manage ventilatory equipment, and supporting the overall care team to provide quality patient outcomes. Telemetry monitoring is managed by dedicated techs, so RNs are not required to interpret telemetry strips.
Shift and

Schedule:

* 12-hour night shifts with weekend rotation every other weekend

* No self-scheduling; schedule coordinated by management in consideration of time-off requests

* Holiday participation on a rotation basis

* Floating and shift pull rotation expected
