Operations Engineer, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Fabrication

Wolviston Management Services are proud to be supporting our client, a respected name in the heavy engineering sector, in the recruitment of an experienced Plater to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale structural steel projects within a fast-paced and safety-conscious environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of fabrication practices and the ability to work from detailed engineering drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings to fabricate heavy steel components (5mm–100mm plate)
- Carry out heat straightening, grinding, and structural plate preparation
- Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment safely and efficiently
- Use grinders and consumables in line with HAVS regulations
- Adhere to all company HSEQ procedures and participate actively in training and development activities
- Meet production targets and deadlines without compromising safety or quality
- Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment
- Support the team with any other duties reasonably required

- Time-served Plater with NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Plating or Structural Steelwork (trade test required)
- Proven experience in heavy engineering environments
- Excellent understanding of plating codes, standards, and best practices
- Confident in using overhead cranes, slinging, and associated lifting techniques
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team setting
- Positive attitude and proactive approach to work and safety
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Full understanding of health and safety, with a focus on safe working behaviours
