TITLE:

Custodian III (220)

LOCATION: Washington Lands Elementary

1. Have a knowledge of and physical capability to perform assigned duties

2. Possess a personality for working in proximity with children

3. Compatible with a positive school environment

4. Able to perform tasks which may range from light cleaning to heavy lifting

5. Physically capable of performing reasonable climbing tasks

6. Pass the WV competency tests for custodian

• Responsible for the cleanliness and attractiveness of the school building and grounds
• Keeping rooms clean and in an orderly appearance
• Keeping restrooms, hallways and entrances clean and manageable
• Keeping entrance areas and sidewalks free of snow and ice
• Run sweeper, empty wastebaskets, clean windows, and perform other custodial duties
• Keep grass cut and trimmed on a regular basis
• Keeping grounds free of paper and other refuse
• Keeping outside of building free of marks
• Make minor repairs, repair window shades, etc.
• Display flag
• Other duties of a custodial nature as directed by the principal or other county supervisors.

school year with anticipated start date of March 16, 2026. (Normal contract:
Monday to Friday, 220 days, eight hours per day, typically 11 am – 7 pm, but flexible as requested by principal or county administration when students are not present.)

February 26 to March 4, 2026 (4:00 pm)

The successful applicant may start work after the time when the board must initiate or act upon personnel actions related to a reduction in force. For that reason, the duration of this position may be for the balance of the  school year only. The job may be re-posted for the  school year if qualified personnel on the preferred recall list, or the transfer list, with more seniority than the successful applicant require placement for the  school year.
