The Packaging Engineer is responsible for designing, building, testing, and maintaining enterprise‑ready application packages using MSI, MSIX, MST, Win
32, and scripted formats. This role ensures that all packages meet Desktop Support security, compliance, and deployment standards across Intune and SCCM environments.

• Design and deliver standardized, enterprise‑grade application packages in MSI, MST, MSIX, Win
  32, and scripted formats (Power Shell, PSADT, VBScript).
• Collaborate with Application Managers and software owners to gather installation requirements, dependencies, and deployment constraints.
• Package applications to support silent, unattended, automated, and scalable deployments.
• Conduct smoke testing, UAT support, functional validation, and compatibility checks.
• Analyze and resolve application conflicts, dependency failures, DLL issues, OS compatibility, ICE validation errors, and environmental blockers.
• Prepare and validate packages for deployment via Microsoft Intune and MECM/SCCM.
• Provide post‑deployment support, including installation failure analysis and remediation.
• Create uninstallation packages/scripts for rollback or application decommissioning.
• Maintain version control, repository management, and documentation of packaging artifacts.
• Participate in CAB (Change Advisory Board) meetings and deployment planning discussions.
• Work closely with Infrastructure, Security, and Service Desk teams to support end‑to‑end Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
• Ensure security, compliance, and certification checks are incorporated as part of packaging.
• Troubleshoot complex vendor installers and generate custom actions or transforms as needed.

• Admin Studio, Install Shield, MSIX Packaging Tool, Advanced Installer.
• Strong proficiency in Power Shell (PSADT) and VBScript.
• Deep understanding of MSI, MST, MSIX, Win
  32, and Windows Installer internals.
• Experience with Intune, MECM/SCCM, Deployment Rings, Detection Methods, and Return Codes.
• Hands‑on troubleshooting using Proc Mon, Process Explorer, Dependency Walker, and Event Viewer.
• Experience with ITSM tools such as Service Now (Change, Incident, Request workflows).
• Knowledge of version control, Git, or package repository management.

• Lead end‑to‑end packaging lifecycle across complex applications.
• Perform advanced scripting, automation, and custom action development.
• Troubleshoot high‑complexity vendor installers and compatibility issues.
• Mentor junior packaging engineers and improve packaging standards/processes.
• Serve as key technical SME supporting Application Managers and Portfolio Managers.

• Microsoft Intune advanced capabilities (Proactive Remediations, App Protection, App Wrapping).
• Endpoint Manager co‑management (Intune + MECM).
• Experience with Application Virtualization (App‑V, Citrix Virtual Apps).
• Experience with Winget, Robo Pack, or modern packaging automation tools.
• Familiarity with cloud‑based deployment orchestration and CI/CD for desktop apps.
