IT Support, IT Project Manager

Overview
Supervisor, Technology - HRIS (Workday) role at WVU Medicine. Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Information Technology staff, professional development of the team, and HR duties (performance reviews, timecards, etc.). Leads coordination of the team with design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of new and legacy systems. Guides the staff in identifying system solutions to meet functional needs, streamline processes, and ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
Minimum QualificationsEDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, computer science, business, informatics or related field AND three (3) years’ experience performing similar duties required by the information technology department OR;
High School Diploma or equivalent AND seven (7) years’ experience performing similar duties required by the information technology department. - This position may require additional certification in support of the responsibilities of the position, which will be provided by WVUHS Information Technology. Certification completion may be required within a defined period of time with formal certification of training completion.
- Internal employees must meet all mandatory competencies in current position in order to qualify for promotion within IT.

- Experience in supporting day-to-day activities in the Information Technology department, with ability to lead a team to success in operations, projects and customer success.
- Technical experience could vary depending on department needs, including software development, application support, HL7 interfaces, etc.

- Leadership:
Hire and develop team members, align efforts with organizational goals, implement process improvements, stay current with healthcare and IT trends, provide guidance to internal teams and customers, conduct employee evaluations, timecard approvals, and on-call scheduling. - Problem Identification and Resolution:
Oversee daily production issues, develop and test scripts, ensure proper documentation, diagnose issues, and resolve outages to restore system availability. - System Management:
Evaluate operational performance, diagnose incidents, perform complex service requests, use reporting tools and SQL, evaluate vendor demonstrations, participate in RFP/RFI activities, assist in budgeting. - Project Coordination:
Assign projects, estimate work, set milestones, manage vendor tickets, remove roadblocks, prepare status reports, coordinate major upgrades and test plans. - Team Building and Training:
Onboard and train new hires, promote collaboration, develop new processes, lead team meetings, mentor for technical and customer service skills, plan training curricula. - Technical and Strategic:
Conduct highly complex analyses across platforms, design solutions for hardware/software capacity and cost/benefit, apply broad system development experience to workflows and patient care processes. - Policy and Compliance:
Adhere to WVUHS policies and applicable entity policies, oversee day-to-day team operations, ensure customer satisfaction. - Application Support and Deployment: HR/ER/Business Applications;
Clinical Applications (PACS/EMR-EPIC/Cardiology/Lab/Pharmacy); database management and specialized technical skills within supported applications. - Team Oversight:
Manage backend hardware, Unix/Linux, storage, application support, upgrades, budget guidance; oversee teams handling Windows/Linux servers, virtualization, Epic-related services, financial and web applications backend, end-user devices, and security controls. - Other duties as assigned and ongoing responsibilities related to team management, project leadership, and customer satisfaction.
