Position: Radiology Technologist - RapidCare (PartTime)
Location: Town Hill

This position performs imaging and therapeutic services and associated patient care in support్యంలో of the Radiology Department mission to provide diagnostic information for the subsequent treatment of patients at WVU Medicine.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program.
  • Certification & Licensure:
    • State license required as follows:
      • MD:
        Radiographer License through Maryland Board of Physicians.
      • OH:
        Radiographer License through Ohio Department of Health.
      • PA:
        No state licensure required.
      • WV:
        Radiography License or Temporary Radiography License through West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board.
    • National certification:
      • Registered Radiography Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
      • MD & OH:
        Required upon hire.
      • PA:
        Within six months of graduation from the Medical Imaging program.
      • WV:
        Prior to expiration of WV temporary license.
    • Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
    • State criminal background check and, if applicable, federal check as required for regulated areas.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Rotate in all diagnostic areas to develop technical skills (Fluoro, Mobiles, Routine, Operating Room, Endoscopy, Orthopedics).
  • Perform image procedures based on patient status, service request, and imaging protocols, with periodic image evaluations and supervision.
  • Produce images novels of optimal quality by using imaging equipment and systems for image delivery and archiving.
  • Select exposure factors to optimize image quality while minimizing radiation exposure.
  • Minimize radiation exposure to self, patients and other staff through shielding, collimation, application of the inverse square law, and avoiding repeat exposures.
  • Maintain expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to imaging to optimize procedures and ensure patient care/safety.
  • Assess patient needs and provide imaging-related support for comfort, hygiene, range of motion.
  • Prepare contrast agents, pharmaceuticals, and sterile trays for imaging procedures as per procedural guidelines.
  • Educate patients regarding radiographic procedures and answer their questions.
  • Promote teamwork by positively interacting with technical, support, nursing, and medical staff.
  • Engage in problem solving, crisis management, system implementation, and performance improvements to support efficient, high‑quality, cost‑effective patient care.
  • Display imaging techniques, patient care, and guest‑relations behaviors in accordance with the ARRT Code of Ethics and relevant policies and regulations necessidades.
  • Report equipment failures immediately upon identification.
  • Complete all in‑services and competencies by the required date and apply gained knowledge.
  • Position patients accurately according to established protocols.
  • Participate in coordination of daily workflow.
  • Provide minimal instruction of radiology students in the clinical setting regarding patient positioning, technique selection, equipment manipulation and use of accessory devices. Offer clinical supervision and instruction within program policies.
  • Ensure all vital components of the imaging process are completed in their entirety.
  • Assist in medical duties as assigned.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Differentiate various shades of gray and color as depicted on a monitor or photograph.
  • Stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Carry items up to 20 pounds.
  • Working Environment
  • Exposure to minimal radiation within national occupational standards. Monitored by Radiation Safety and use of dosimeter.
  • Exposure to airborne particles and bodily fluids.
  • Operation of imaging equipment with automated moving parts.
  • Skills and Abilities
  • Interact positively with patients, families, and members of the health‑care team.
  • Prioritize and handle multiple situations simultaneously.
  • Improvise with altered positioning techniques and equipment manipulation when routine positioning is compromised.
