As a Registered Nurse (RN) with our organization, you will be a vital member of the healthcare team, responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients and residents. Mandatory overtime is an essential function of this position. Applicant selected for employment must successfully complete a criminal background check and a chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug screening test. • Patient Care: Administer top-quality nursing care to patients and residents, ensuring the highest standards of practice.
• Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct intake assessments, administer first aid and medications, and perform health screenings.
• Care Planning: Assist in developing and evaluating individualized care plans, tailored to the unique needs of each patient.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records for all patients, documenting changes in their condition and treatments provided.
• Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, supervisors, and other healthcare staff to coordinate and implement effective patient care.
• Education and Training: May provide guidance and direction to LPNs, CNAs, and other staff members. Participate in the orientation and training of new staff.
• Administrative Duties: Enter patient information into various electronic systems, ensure adherence to healthcare policies and regulations, and communicate urgent medical needs to relevant personnel.
• Patient Advocacy: Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring clear communication and understanding of patient care plans.

Sharpe, Jr. Hospital holds accreditation from The Joint Commission and certification by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS). The hospital offers a wide range of services to patients either committed to the hospital through civil commitment or, in the case of forensic patients, ordered through the judicial system.

Through ongoing collaboration with West Virginia University’s Department of Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry, a variety of medical and clinical professionals partner with the hospital’s own staff to work diligently with patients to achieve a smooth transition back to the community after discharge.
