Occupational Therapist

Rivers Health is seeking a full-time Occupational Therapist. The role involves performing the following duties:

• Provides instructions and training/supervision for occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy aides, and occupational therapy students.
• Observes and evaluates treatment effectiveness; recommends changes to the physician if needed.
• Performs an appropriate assessment on each patient and provides reassessment as per policy; includes pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general patient populations.
• Forms a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of learning; family included in teaching as appropriate.
• Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency of occupational therapy interventions.
• Treats patients and families with respect and dignity.
• Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and families.
• Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly; maintains department cleanliness and safety.
• Interacts professionally with patients/families and involves them in the formation of the plan of care.
• Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff, and administrative team.
• Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients' needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
• Maintains records pertinent to the personnel and operation of the department.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful situations.
• Maintains good working relationships within the department and with other departments.
• Consults with other departments to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
• Participates and maintains performance improvement activities for the department and organizational CQI activities.
• Meets current documentation standards and policies.
• Participates in educational staff performance improvement in services; assists with orientation and in-service training for certified department staff members; participates in guidance and educational programs.
• Coordinates, delegates, and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff (OTA, occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy aides).
• Provides input in formulating budget, assists in evaluating department performance versus budget controls, and takes appropriate action to remain within budget guidelines.
• Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis.
• Participates in infection control, departmental equipment training, and organizational safety and fire safety programs.
• Adheres to dress codes; appearance is neat and clean.
• Completes annual educational requirements.
• Maintains regulatory requirements, including JACHO, state, and federal regulations and standards.
• Reports to work on time and completes work within designated time.
• Wears identification while on duty.
• Completes in services and returns them in a timely fashion.
• Attends committee, CQI, and management meetings as appropriate.
• Performs other duties that may be assigned.
• Complies with Corporate Policies, Departmental Policies and Procedures, and the Personnel Employee Handbook.
• Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.
• Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
• Participates in quality improvement activities, including serving on quality improvement teams.
