Qualifications

• Previous employment in a healthcare residence an asset but not mandatory
• Secretarial skills and experience with office procedures required
• Experience with Microsoft Office required
• Knowledge of and previous experience with office equipment
• Patience, tolerance and politeness when responding to residents and visitors to the residence
• Ability to speak read and write English. Must be able to follow oral and written directions and to do simple arithmetic calculations

• Answering and transferring phone calls to the proper department
• Ensuring guests are signing in and out when entering and leaving the building
• Completing and printing meal menus (familiar with word documents and excel spreadsheet)
• Maintaining an organized and tidy front area
• Sorting through and giving residents their mail
• Inputting TELS (work orders in the maintenance binder)
• Providing excellent and friendly customer service to residents and families
• Provide administrative support as required
• Provide initial face-to-face and telephone contact with visitors. Provide direction to visitors and callers and/or notify appropriate people as required
• Be knowledgeable of and practice residence's fire and safety programs
• General housekeeping duties, assist PSW nursing staff during emergencies
