Hours:

Full time, 40 hours per week. Rotating shift pattern that includes weekend and public holidays.

The Site:
Our Client’s Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) processes about half the household waste in the South Downs area. That’s approximately 210,000 tonnes of waste per year. The facility converts waste unsuitable for recycling into over 19 megawatts of electrical energy – enough power to supply 25,000 homes. The electricity produced is then supplied to the National Grid.

The Role:

An exciting opportunity to join their fast-paced team at working on an Energy Recovery Facility. This position is suited to an individual that is looking to develop their operational management skills within the industrial energy sector.

Duties:

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Energy Recovery Facility, managing a shift team and day operations staff, ensuring compliance with all aspects of the site.

Monitor plant from a central control room and operate plant and equipment, including mobile plant and refuse crane.

Supervise and deploy manpower as appropriate to ensure cost effective, safe and efficient operation of all activities on site within all operational procedures and also in emergency situations.

Provide effective training and monitoring of shift staff to ensure personnel are competent to undertake their duties.

Provide effective administration and application of the Safety Rules and Health and Safety policies.

Experience:

Ability to lead an operations shift team to ensure adherence with procedures and effective utilisation of staff.

An experienced Engineer/Technician ideally having completed a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent training.

ONC or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.

An understanding of current environmental and health and safety issues.

Knowledge of Regulatory requirements.

Be aware of and work within the Company Environmental & quality systems.

Broad experience gained through shift working in a continuous process environment or process based industry.
