Structural Engineer

Rate: £40,000 – £47,000 Plus Excellent Benefits Package

Our client is a Tier 1 D&B Contractor operating predominately in the water industry who have been awarded programmes of work to deliver non-infrastructure water and wastewater projects for multiple water authorities including Severn Trent, Thames Water, United Utilities, Anglian Water, and Southern Water.

They are looking to recruit two to three Structural Engineers who will report directly to the Structures Lead. Duties/responsibilities of the role will include:

• Production of structural design calculations for all aspects of Water Treatment and Sewage Treatment plants, including both new build and modifications to existing plants.
• Review of structural content of construction drawings/models.
• Review of subcontract design proposals.
• Ensuring all work is considered for buildability, standardisation and DfMA, and for safety on site complying with CDM regulations.
• Reinforced concrete and steelwork design to all relevant Eurocodes and British Standards.
• Co-ordination and liaison within a multi-discipline organisation including construction oversight and site support.
• Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the discipline.
• Resource planning and responsibility for project delivery within budget and programme.
• Provide support to civil design staff.
• Ensure designs take account of environmental issues.
• Assist in improving processes and procedures.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

• Good knowledge of structural analysis and ability to use Microsoft Excel and design software such as Staad Pro and Tekla TEDDS.
• Degree qualified in Civil and/or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Working towards membership of a professional institution or recently chartered.
• Design experience for water retaining structures to construction standard using Eurocodes.
• Structural design experience to construction standard.
