About Working as the 2nd Engineer

At ESVAGT, you are employed as 2nd Engineer in ships over 3000 kW, depending on where there is a vacancy. You can read about the different ship groups here.

As a 2nd Engineer, you are still undergoing training in the machine, but will also have independent tasks and machine guard. In collaboration with the engine crew, which consists of a Danish Chief Engineer, 1st Engineer and Junior/2nd Engineer, you must ensure that all the technical on board is maintained. You will be part of the watch routine, perform maintenance and actively participate in solving the tasks that the ship performs for the customer.

It could also be training in a boat, first aid or firefighting – or doing maintenance on walkways, cranes or davids.

As a person, you need to be solution‑oriented and be able to keep a cool in hectic situations. You must be committed and willing to learn new things every single day. You must be structured and outreach in relation to new knowledge. In addition, you should have an interest in Fast Rescue Boats (FRB) as well as an all‑round approach to technical troubleshooting and repair of electricity, hydraulics and motors.

• Valid papers as Master Engineer of 2nd degree
• Valid health certificate, passport and maritime book
• Interest in electronics, hydraulics and mechanics
• Ability to communicate clearly and distinctly in Danish and English
• Want to sail 4 weeks enlistment (2 men share a position)
