Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical superintendent to plan and supervise the Plant Maintenance team. This role involves leading a team of about 7 technicians and contractors to ensure all planned and break down maintenance activities are completed as per schedule. The equipment operates with minimum downtime, while maximizing operational efficiency and equipment life. The facilities and plants include sophisticated and modern equipment like turbines, compressors, centrifuges, high pressure steam networks, and many more supplied by leading global manufacturers.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise a team of Maintenance technicians, including planning and scheduling of jobs by the candidate, field supervision of routine and break down jobs, improve worker productivity, develop CMMS, technical guidance, co-ordinate with vendor engineers etc.
- Plan and Schedule maintenance activities to ensure efficiency of resources and minimize production disruptions while maximizing equipment uptime.
- Develop and manage CMMS to utilize resources efficiently and maintain
- Develop and implement maintenance best practices; identify opportunities for efficiency and reliability gains.
- Adopt a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with production and operations teams to prioritize maintenance tasks and optimize resource allocation.
- Manage spare parts inventory; implement control measures to optimize stock levels, reduce carrying costs, and minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs to meet regulatory (Process Safety Management) and internal standards.
- Train apprentices and trainees in maintenance and reliability activities to promote an environment of working as a team and continual improvement. This should include service work provided by operations personnel.
Qualifications:
Associate in Engineering or High School.
- 15 years+ of experience in maintenance within petrochemical and chemicals plants. Working experience as a millwright, who has worked on turbines/ compressors/ pumps will be preferred.
- A successful candidate must have high level of hands-on experience with equipment and be proficient at solving complex equipment problems. In-depth knowledge of the best practices and methodologies in maintenance in addition to modern techniques that ensure high reliability, efficiency, and safety.
- Proficiency in maintenance management software systems CMMS and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a quick decision-making approach.
- Sound understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with peers and colleagues to achieve the organizations goals.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in a plant environment, including occasional exposure to chemicals, machinery, and varying temperature conditions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to be on-call or work outside regular hours as needed to address urgent maintenance issues.
