Within the Accessories Business Unit (ABU), the Erembodegem site hosts the R&D team specializing in separable Connectors
, one of the four major technologies in our portfolio (Cold Shrink, Heat Shrink, Separable Connectors, Ferrules & Lugs). The R&D Project Manager will play a major role in leading innovation projects from concept to market launch, ensuring technical excellence, quality, and effective risk management.
The Technical Engineering Project Manager Is Responsible For
- Delivering successful R&D projects, from requirements analysis up to the launching phase
- Ensuring alignment with business objectives, technical specifications, and compliance standards.
- Supporting R&D manager to allocate and monitor resources effectively.
- Ensuring the right application of the project management process.
- Strengthening cross‑functional activities with marketing, technical, industrial and purchasing team.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee R&D projects from design through market release.
- Define milestones, budgets, resources, and deliverables.
- Ensure adherence to timelines, cost targets, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, laboratories, and production teams.
- Guarantee compliance with relevant technical and regulatory standards (IEC, CENELEC).
- Drive design reviews and prototype validation.
- Align every function toward the common objectives.
- Challenge usual way of doing things to improve the outcomes.
- Organize regular project progress updates to the R&D Manager and BU stakeholders.
- Deliver project presentations, reports, and documentation.
- Apply and enforce company HSE policies and procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement in all activities.
- Ensure adherence to Nexans’ ethical guidelines, corporate governance, and internal procedures.
- Projects delivered on time, within budget, and meeting all quality requirements.
- Deliverables that are accurate, complete, and fully aligned with customer needs.
- Positive feedback from both internal stakeholders and customers.
- CAD/CAE systems (CREO, Solid Works, or equivalent).
- Internal laboratories and testing facilities (PABU, LCIE…).
- Project management and communication tools.
- Engineering, Quality, Industrialization, Purchasing, Sales & Marketing, Production.
- Customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and testing laboratories.

Interpersonal Skills- Project management methodologies (PMP, Stage‑Gate, Agile).
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical standards (IEC, CENELEC).
- Understanding of medium voltage electrical phenomena (partial discharge, dielectric stresses, insulation aging).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite; ability to manage technical documentation.
- Technical English (spoken and written).
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
- Analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
- Initiative and innovation‑oriented approach.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Master’s degree (Bac+5) in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanics, Materials Science, or Industrial Design.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in R&D project management within an industrial environment, ideally in medium/high voltage accessories or related fields.
