Responsibilities / Expectations
  • Perform complex maintenance and operational tasks with all natural gas process related equipment and systems
  • Minimize unplanned shutdowns through root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions with a focus on improving safety
  • Fix and maintain process control systems
  • Partner with project managers to define scope and instrumentation specifications for new projects
  • Other duties as assigned
Education / Years of Experience
  • Required:

    High School Diploma/GED and minimum of two (2) years’ experience as an Operations Technician or similar role, including one (1) year experience as an I&E Technician
  • Preferred:
    Associates or 2-year technical degree and minimum of two (2) years’ experience as an Operations Technician in the Oil and Gas Industry
Physical and Environmental Work Requirements

The ability to:

  • Work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises and in enclosed spaces
  • Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs and team lift loads of more than 50 lbs as needed
  • Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of time
  • Work at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
  • Use hand tools
Shift / Work Hours / Travel Requirements
  • Available to work after hours, on-call rotations, nights, weekend shifts and holiday as the need arises
  • May be required to work overtime, 10-12 hour shifts and travel between Williams locations with occasional overnight stays
Other Requirements
  • Familiarity with Rosemount Transmitters by Emerson, especially in the domains of pressure, temperature, and flow metrics
  • Proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Solid understanding of 480V electrical switch gear components and their functions
  • Practical experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Fundamental knowledge of CAT engines and Ariel compressors and their maintenance
  • Proven problem‑solving capabilities and a hands‑on approach to troubleshooting and equipment maintenance
  • An eagerness for continuous learning and adapting to evolving technologies
  • Must possess a valid State Driver’s License and a clean driving record
  • Demonstrates aptitude and ability to embrace technology and applications to drive operational efficiency and streamline processes
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and treats safety as the utmost priority
  • Needs basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Application and PC skills
  • Previous experience working in an environment with gas‑plant operations, gas compression and/or liquid or gas gathering processes
  • Previous experience in the mechanical, electrical, and/or maintenance industry

I&E Technicians work with electrical and instrumentation equipment. They perform maintenance and operational tasks with all natural gas process related equipment, instrumentation, and control systems; maintain and complete maintenance records, service reports, and other required documents as necessary; maintain and operate glycol dehydration, cryogenic processing, fractionation plant, reciprocating and turbine compressors; demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment, vehicles, tools, and equipment;

attend safety and technical training while progressing in the I&E Operations Technician development process; maintain and operate Allen Bradley PLC systems; follow and adhere to Williams’ System Integrity Plan for all regulatory requirements and company core values and beliefs; support teams by providing quality maintenance duties to maximize equipment reliability and availability; troubleshoot low to high voltage electrical equipment and perform instrumentation and control valve calibration;

participate in root cause analysis and execution of corrective actions; interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to troubleshoot and maintain process control systems; initiate and complete work orders and requisitions; install, troubleshoot, repair and perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, instrumentation and analytical equipment following electrical code, manuals, procedures, schematic diagrams, P&IDs, blueprints and other specifications; inspect instrumentation periodically and perform calibrations to ensure accuracy;

perform some programming and controls work.
