- Assist with providing instructional support in the basic skills of reading, mathematics, and English Language Arts, along with early detection and intervention strategies to improve student outcomes as defined in §18-2E-10.
- Assist teacher in working directly with students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis.
- Assist teacher with monitoring the developmental and academic progress of students.
- Maintain an environment that is safe and conducive to learning.
- Assist teacher with the supervision of students.
- Establish effective rapport with students assigned to the classroom.
- Motivate students to develop attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good educational foundation, in accordance with each student's ability.
- Promote and maintain positive work habits and relations with staff.
- Perform duties efficiently and productively.
- Maintain and/or upgrade job‑related skills.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain/upgrade skills and attend staff development programs.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the teacher and/or principal, including duties and monitoring of students (i.e., hall, lunchroom, playground).
- Maintain adherence to the Employee Code of Conduct.
- Assist student with basic needs of personal care.
- May act in a supervisory capacity.
- Must have GED or high school diploma.
- Must pass state service personnel competency test for Aide as per WV Code 18-4-8e.
- Must meet all other requirements for an Aide position (CPR and First Aid Training), criminal background check.
- Must satisfy additional requirements as outlined in HB 3035:
Aide‑ Any current or newly hired aide assigned to Grade 1‑3 classrooms as outlined in HB3035, will need to complete additional in‑person or online training in the science of reading, numeracy, and appropriate measures for exercising authority and control over students within three calendar years of moving to a grade 1‑3 classroom (Four Courses). Since most aides are not certified by the WVDE, the county will need to ensure the training is completed within the appropriate timeframe. - Current, permanently certified, ECCAT Aides will be required to complete (2) additional courses/trainings as outlined in HB 3035 in the science of reading, numeracy, and appropriate measures for exercising authority and control over students within two calendar years of hire date.
- Newly hired ECCATs or those who hold a temporary ECCAT certification, will need to complete (4) courses/trainings as outlined in HB 3035 in the science of reading, numeracy and appropriate measures for exercising authority and control over students within three calendar years of hire date.

Salary based on experience and education level per state salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
