Concord University's Department of Social Work invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, open-rank tenure track faculty position in the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program, beginning Fall 2026. We seek a dynamic and student-centered educator committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, academic advising, and scholarly engagement.
The Department of Social Work has offered the BSW program since 1976. The BSW program is currently completing reaffirmation with the 2022 EPAS and has been accredited by the CSWE since its inception in 1974.
The successful candidate will teach across the BSW curriculum, contribute to curriculum development and assessment, engage in scholarly and professional activities, and participate in service to the department, university, and community. The expected teaching load is twelve-credit hours per semester.
The position also involves mentoring students, supporting field education, and contributing to the program's ongoing accreditation efforts.
We are seeking a high-energy faculty member with an enthusiasm for teaching, intellectual vigor, strong human relations and communication abilities, and a demonstrated record of post MSW practice for at least two-years. The individual should adhere to NASW values and ethics and be strongly committed working with non-traditional rural students.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duty/Responsibility
Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate courses in social work, human behavior, and policy. The expected teaching load is twelve-credit hours per semester.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the department and university, as well as with the regional community; engage in advising activities; teach assigned courses in the undergraduate program; engage in scholarly activity; provide service to the institution, profession, and community; assist in program changes that are aligned with best practices and CSWE standards; and, participate in program accreditation requirements and activities.
All tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, an on-going program of research, publication, and/or other professional activities designed to enrich student learning and service to the community and profession. Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service to the department, college, and university level is also required.

Education/Knowledge
Minimum Education Master's Required Licenses/Certification
* Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program (required)
* Doctorate in Social Work or related field (PhD, DSW, EdD) preferred or in progress
* Possesses a Social Work License or be licensable in West Virginia
Required Skills
* Adherence to NASW ethical principles and standards
* Demonstrated potential for scholarly research, publication, or professional development
* Willingness to participate in service to the department, university, and community
* Ability to mentor and advise students, including support for field education
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and community partners
* Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas)
* Comfort with technology-enhanced instruction (e.g., hybrid, online, or remote teaching)
