Concord University is seeking high-energy applicants with enthusiasm for teaching, intellectual vigor, strong human relations and communication abilities, and a demonstrated record of teaching and theatrical production experience. The Department of Fine Arts and Communication is looking for adjunct instructors for Fall 2024 at Concord University, Athens, WV.
Starting in the fall of 2024, students can enroll in the Interdisciplinary Studies Major in Theatre. The Concord University Theatre Program will provide students with unique opportunities to participate in engaging stage productions that entertain the campus community and audiences throughout the region. For our degree in Theatre, students will take courses focusing on Acting, Design, Technology, Directing, Theory, and other areas of particular interest.
Students will also gain valuable experience through hands-on involvement in campus productions and independent projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duty/Responsibility
* Teaching undergraduate classes in theatre
* The position involves teaching 3 to 9 credit hours per semester.
* Instruction delivery in both online and in-person settings, with preference given to candidates able to teach in-person.
* May perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator, Department Chair, or Dean.

Education/Knowledge
Minimum Education Master's Required Licenses/Certification
A master's or equivalent terminal degree in Theatre or a closely related area is recommended.
Required Skills
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
* Strong interpersonal and collaborative ability demonstrated.
* Practical theatre experience and adherence to professional ethical practices.
* Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and practices relating to theatre.
* Ability to instruct students in safe and effective set design and construction for theatrical spaces and performances.
* Expertise in all technical aspects of theatre. Including but not limited to lighting, sound systems, and all aspects of rigging.
* Enthusiasm and documented evidence of excellent teaching, strong human relations, and a passion for the training preparation and development of highly competent students in the theatre arts.
* Skill in technical production and theatre management in a college or university setting.
