Position: Student Recruiter / Advisor / Early Access Specialist (New Martinsville)

JOB SUMMARY

The Recruiter / Advisor Early Access (EA) Specialist primarily supports the Early Access Program’s enrollment efforts of WV Northern Community College by serving as the key contact for all high schools in the College's service area. The Advisor Recruiter provides admissions and onboarding support to prospective and/or newly admitted EA students throughout each semester and represents the entire College at both on‑campus and offsite locations such as high schools, community events, college fairs, and other recruitment, advising, and registration events.

OF WORK

The position is responsible for facilitating the recruitment and onboarding process for WV Northern Community College on the New Martinsville Campus and may work on the Wheeling and Weirton Campuses when needed. The role focuses on engaging high school students as the student recruiter and liaison between the College and local high schools. The individual provides campus tours, visits schools, participates in recruitment fairs, advises new and returning students on registration, academic policies, curricular options, promotes success strategies, career counseling, and transfer pathways, and collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and high school administrators to ensure smooth transitions from high school to college.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS
  • Primary Advisor and External Recruiter: Serve as the primary advisor and external recruiter within the College’s designated service region to high schools and outreach entities (20%).
  • Information to Potential and Accepted Students: Provide information about academic programs, major selection, career choice, admissions requirements, course selection, payment options, and student life for all campuses (10%).
  • Recruitment Plans: Develop and implement recruitment plans for the designated service area and all student types, using time and resources efficiently (10%).
  • Relationship Maintenance: Maintain established relationships with feeder and partner high schools, implement admissions processes, procedures, and requirements (10%).
  • High School Visits: Visit high schools, vocational schools, area agencies, and outreach services for recruitment, admissions, and retention outreach (10%).
  • On‑Campus Recruiting Events: Coordinate or assist with on‑campus recruiting events and visits, including high school students, parents, and targeted groups (10%).
  • Faculty Coordination: Meet with Division Chairs, Program Directors, and full‑time faculty to gain knowledge of programs and create outreach efforts (10%).
  • Correspondence and Logistics: Provide and administer all correspondence, follow‑up, registration, and logistics for high school college fairs and outreach visits (5%).
  • Travel and Program Obligations: Schedule recruiting events, make necessary arrangements, facilitate travel (5%).
  • Financial Aid Knowledge: Be well versed in financial aid documents, maneuver within NOW, articulate financial aid awards and requirements (2.5%).
  • Student Portal Assistance: Assist students in logging into the student portal, NOW, email, and Brightspace upon acceptance (2.5%).
  • Contact List Maintenance: Accumulate and maintain contact list for all local schools, agencies, and outreach contacts (2.5%).
  • Other Duties: Perform other functions as required or assigned; comply with all Policies and Standards (5%).
EDUCATION LEVEL

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (required). Preferred: 1 year+ recruitment or sales experience, 2+ external higher education recruiting experience, 1 year+ public speaking experience, 2+ customer service experience, 1 year+ college admissions experience.
