West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics seeks a Pediatric Neuro-Oncologist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.
The successful candidate will join the growing WVU Medicine Pediatric Blood & Cancer Center (PBCC) with a team that includes one other pediatric neuro-oncologist, four pediatric oncologists, two pediatric neurosurgeons, three advanced practice providers, two clinical nurse coordinators, two pediatric hematology/oncology pharmacists, two pediatric palliative physicians, two pediatric PM&R physicians, a neuropsychologist, a pediatric psychologist, a pediatric social worker, a clinical research associate and our PBCC facility dog, Rigatoni.
The growth also includes a separate Pediatric Blood & Cancer Center Inpatient unit in our new Children s Hospital and an expanded PBCC Infusion center in our new Children s medical office building.
- The successful candidate will practice in the areas of pediatric neuro-oncology and general hematology/oncology.
- This is primarily a clinical position with multiple opportunities for clinical research and quality improvement.
- In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and learners of other professions.
- MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and eligible for state medical license.
- Completed pediatric residency program, hematology/oncology fellowship, and additional training or experience in neuro-oncology.
- Board-certified or eligible in pediatric hematology/oncology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
Our 150-bed WVUM Golisano Children s Hospital has a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. It includes 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 26 PICU beds, Heart Center, and a dedicated Pediatric Blood & Cancer Center. The hospital is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level
1. There is also a Birthing Center with a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. WVUM Golisano Children s is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state for children, and the only medical center in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.
