West Virginia University WVU) School of Medicine seeks a new Regional Chair of Family Medicine for the Eastern Division in collaboration with West Virginia University Hospitals/University Health Associates. This is an exceptional leadership opportunity for a physician with unwavering commitment to excellence in clinic care, education and research.
SUMMARYThe Regional Chair of the Department of Family Medicine - Eastern Division is responsible for overall clinical, educational, scholarship/research, and service provided by the Department. This includes ensuring the highest quality of care and service, consistency in the standard of practice, maintaining excellence across the educational spectrum and enabling scholarly advances in the field. Reporting to the Eastern Division Dean and the Chair of FM in Morgantown, the Regional Chair facilitates an interdisciplinary approach to achieve excellence in clinical care, education, and research in an environment in which collaboration is valued and encouraged.
ALLOCATIONOF TIME
Administrative 50%;
Clinical and Educational 50% (variable).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATIONAL:
- Works collaboratively with senior leadership in the Eastern Division, Department of Family Medicine in Morgantown, and School of Medicine to ensure academic standards and excellence of education for medical students.
- Supports and supervises the Residency Program Director and Fellowship Directors and complies with the standards of the Office of Graduate Medical Education.
- Promotes the recruitment, retention, and mentoring academic faculty.
- Assures continuing faculty development activities in education, scholarship, research, and outreach.
- Provides annual summative evaluation and oversight of all faculty, particularly with regards to the promotion and tenure cycle, as well as ongoing formative evaluation and feedback.
- Acts as a role model for students, residents, and physicians of the Department.
- Participates in the clinical care of patients.
- Provides leadership and management for all clinical operations within the Department of Family Medicine.
- Determines the qualifications and assesses the competency of all members of the department and coordinates and provides oversight of all medical staff as it relates to credentialing, recredentialing and privileging.
- Promotes and fosters the concepts of the Patient‑Centered Medical home, to include a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and the coordination of care among disciplines.
- Ensures that patient care delivery and clinical standards for the department are consistent with current professional guidelines, accreditation standards, and the mission, vision, and values of School of Medicine.
- Monitors patient, customer, and employee satisfaction in accordance with organizational goals and guidelines, while maintaining clinical excellence.
- Encourages the practice of evidence‑based medicine, as well as optimal use of the Electronic Medical Record.
- Collaborates with the senior leadership to develop and monitor continual performance improvement.
