Academic Physician Hospitalist - JW Ruby Memorial

The West Virginia University Health System is the state’s largest health system and private employer, comprising 18 hospitals and 5 institutes, and providing management services for local hospitals through affiliate agreements.

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine, Section of Hospital Medicine is seeking a full-time faculty hospitalist (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will practice in Morgantown and Fairmont, WV, and may be assigned to additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania with anticipated travel.

• Practice in the areas of Internal Medicine and Hospitalist Medicine.
• Provide excellent patient care as part of the inpatient hospitalist service.
• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows on one‑on‑one and team rounding.
• Serve on consultation teams and collaborate across departments.
• Participate in specialty service lines (cardiovascular, oncology, ESRD, long‑term antibiotic infusion, geriatric fracture service, complicated infectious disease, post‑acute care).
• Maintain 26 weeks of annual clinical duties, primarily admissions and cross‑coverage night coverage.

• M.D. or D.O. degree or foreign equivalent and eligibility for a state medical license.
• Completion of an Internal Medicine residency program.
• Board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine.
• All qualifications must be met at time of appointment.
