Production Planner

Overview

Responsible for purchasing all raw materials, packaging, finished goods and outside services. Evaluates suppliers based on price, quality and delivery speed. Collaborates with sales, marketing and manufacturing to establish inventory safety stock levels, reorder amounts and lead times for all raw material and finished goods. Performs demand forecasting, statistical trend analysis and purchase order management.

• Ensures that necessary items and raw materials are procured, parts produced, inventory maintained and stock distributed in accordance with company goals and objectives.
• Reviews product inventory status – both WIP and finished goods – on a regular basis and communicates priorities to production and inventory control personnel.
• Negotiates purchase criteria including price, delivery and quality on behalf of the organization and works out policies with suppliers.
• Prepares and processes purchase orders and ensures compliance with company policies and the QMS system.
• Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitors and expediates orders as necessary.
• Prepares and releases work orders for production.
• Performs demand forecasting and needs assessment to ensure appropriate inventory levels by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends on a regular basis.
• Manages and performs transactions in the ERP system to ensure system accuracy for purchasing processes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
