ABOUT THE CLUB
Southview Country Club is a private, member-owned club with over 100 years of history. The club was founded in 1919 with the purpose of bringing local businessmen closer together. This original idea still holds true today. Many of our members have joined Southview for the friendships and golf but they have remained members for the long-lasting memories and relationships they have created.
The Club's Board of Directors, Club Management and Staff are dedicated to provide the best possible experiences to members and their guests in the utilization of amenities including quality golf, dining social and family activities.
Position Summary
The Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for assisting the Head Professional with all activities relating to the management and execution of the club's golf operations, including but not limited to the public tournaments, member tournaments, member leagues, outside staff service, golf shop, practice facilities, instructional programs, financial management and maintenance of golf equipment. The Assistant Golf Professional reports to the Head Golf Professional.
The work schedule will include early mornings, nights and weekends based on events or club necessity and in outside weather conditions.
Experience Required
The ideal candidate will have PGA Certification, with at least three (3) years of experience at a premier property.
- Outgoing personality with exceptional customer service, passion, leadership, training and communication skills.
- Must physically be able to perform the job including climbing stairs daily and play golf.
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred
- Polished communication skills both oral and written
- Proficiency or ability to learn Jonas Software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability and willingness to work long hours and weekends as demanded by business cycles
Essential Responsibilities
- Assists the Head Golf Professional with hiring, training and supervising outside staff and inside staff
- Work with Member Committees on executing the Members' vision for golf programs, services, and tournaments.
- Effectively manages numerous public and member tournaments
- Assists as needed with junior golf, clinics and camps
- Assists members by providing and interpreting golf policies, rules and regulations
- Manages the daily opening and closing of golf operations as needed
- Represent Southview's mission and values within the department.
- Provide lessons and instructions for members, juniors, and play with members.
- Perform starter or marshal duties as needed
- Work with the Head Golf Professional to develop golf programs and services that foster a passion for golf, fellowship and a love for our Club.
- Represent the Club in PGA sponsored golf functions, with approval of Director of Golf as time permits, with the goal of maintaining PGA certification.
