Overview

Southview Acres Health Center is hiring for a Dietary Technician to join our team!
Job Title: Dietary Technician (Diet Tech)
Location: Southview Acres Health Center, West St. Paul, MN Department: Dietary Services Reports To: Registered Dietitian / Dietary Manager Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time hours available

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Registered Dietitian in nutritional screening, data collection, and assessments.
  • Review and implement physician-ordered diets and nutritional supplements.
  • Monitor residents’ intake, weight changes, and nutritional risks, and report findings.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on care plans and dietary interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in medical records.
  • Participate in menu planning, recipe modifications, and ensure therapeutic diets are followed.
  • Educate residents and staff on basic nutrition, special diets, and food safety.
  • Conduct audits and ensure regulatory compliance with state, federal, and facility policies.
  • Assist with food service staff training as needed regarding dietary restrictions or modifications.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field preferred.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Dietetic Technician program or equivalent (preferred but not required).
  • Current Dietetic Technician Registration (DTR) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (preferred).
  • Experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and state/federal regulatory requirements.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and resident needs.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a skilled nursing facility setting.
  • Frequent interaction with residents, staff, and healthcare professionals.
  • May be exposed to kitchen equipment, cleaning chemicals, and resident care settings.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to observe and respond to residents' needs and dietary changes.
