Overview

We are growing and in need of a Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic for our VSS International, Inc. facility. Come join a team with a great company culture that offers competitive wages and benefits. The Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic will be part of a mobile construction crew who will service the Western states where our crews are currently performing work. The Field Mechanic will perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on our heavy and diesel equipment when and where it is necessary.

Our Field Mechanic may be away for periods of 2-3 weeks at a time.

Responsibilities
  • Travel in a commercial maintenance truck to various job sites throughout the western US.
  • Repair and maintenance on specialized equipment such as oil distributor trucks, loaders/rollers, macropavers, pickup trucks, and other various equipment.
  • Arrear to follow directions unsupervised and work well alone or in a team environment.
  • Work on hydraulics and electrical systems.
  • Able to travel to work on the equipment at various sites in the surrounding area and out of town and out of state work.
  • Must be able to work all hours as needed, including overtime and weekends.
  • Perform visual inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance on all construction equipment.
  • Work in the shop when needed.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years  experience in diesel truck and heavy construction equipment repair
  • Basic welding & metal fabrication
  • Must have own tools
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License required
  • Capability to travel to construction sites and be away for periods of 2-3 weeks at a time
Education and/or Work Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years  experience in diesel truck and heavy equipment repair
