The process includes:

The Police Recruit is a training level position for candidates learning police duties. Recruits participate in law enforcement training, support police operations, and may perform non-sworn duties. Successful completion of the Police Academy is required; failure results in termination.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid California driver license
• At least 21 years of age at appointment
• Citizenship or eligible resident alien status
• Pass the Physical Agility Test
• No felony convictions

• Work may require wearing respiratory equipment; facial hair must be shaved if interfering with fit
• Resignation within 24 months of appointment requires reimbursement for training costs
• Driver's license must be maintained; loss may lead to termination
