Wage Range:

$17.15 to $23.00 - depending on experience with provable hours or work sample.

Tasks of Position

The following are core and essential responsibilities of this position. Associates are responsible for completing any and all duties assigned as required for the successful operation of our business. All associates are required to perform their job duties in a manner which upholds the integrity and honesty of our company.

  • Reporting for assigned shifts on time, and on a regular basis, capable of communicating clearly and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safely perform assigned tasks and duties, prepared to provide excellent service.
  • Promoting sales and exceptional service through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations, samples, and discussing current promotions and service information while on the sales floor or in the check stand. (Examples while on the sales floor may include: ordering products for special requests, locating products for guests throughout the store). (Examples while in the check stand may include: asking guests if they need stamps or ice, chatting about Yoke's signature items, fresh board and sweet deal suggestions, or providing information on reusable bag rebates).
  • Understanding and capable of performing the following:
  • receiving, checking, verifying, and recording incoming or outgoing shipments of merchandise
  • counting, weighing, or measuring shipments against invoices, orders, merchandise returned for credit, or other records, assuring proper retail is indicated and credits are received
  • rejecting damaged items and recording shortages
  • routing items to departments
  • maintaining the backroom, sanitation, cleanliness, and security
  • monitoring equipment to assure proper working order including: 6 wheelers, 2 wheelers, bailers, pallet jacks, trash compactor, backdoor locks, ramps, docks, and lighting
  • using "This One's On Us" cards to "Make Our Guests Crazy About Us!"
  • Operating (at minimum) the following equipment in a correct and safe manner: com-line, phone, baler, box cutter, FM unit (handheld), pallet jack, six wheelers, symbol unit, cash register, scan receiving unit and trash compactor.
  • Mentoring new associates or associates who are new to the department or task and assuring a positive learning environment.
  • Finding a way to make our guests happy.
  • Ensuring all work performed in the department is completed in accordance with all local, state, federal and company rules, regulations, and policies regarding workplace safety, food handling safety, and guest services.
  • Participating actively in the Grocery Department's accident reduction plan including: cleaning floors, sanitizing, and recognizing shelf order, safety features of all machinery, store evacuation plan, robbery policy, case temperatures, and storing regulations.
