Guardrail Installer

This Highway Guardrail Installer position requires performing a variety of tasks related to highway maintenance and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, company policies and procedures and safety guidelines. This position requires a valid driver's license.

• Reading of plans and schematics.
• Layout of Highway Guardrail.
• Handling and installing all of the materials for guardrail installation.
• Loading and unloading materials on a flat‑bed truck and/or trailer by hand, digging holes, using power tools, etc.
• Operation of Post Pounder/Driver Truck.
• Drive long distances to deliver materials to jobsites in a timely manner.
• Load, unload and record cargo deliveries.
• Maintain paperwork.
• Refuel and clean vehicle.
• Inspect trucks and record issues; report road incidents to dispatcher and mechanical problems to maintenance personnel.
• Follow traffic laws and accident procedures.
• Plan routes using GPS system.

• 3-5 years guardrail installation experience.
• Proven work experience as a truck driver with extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
• Hands‑on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.).
• Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.).

• Must possess a current and valid driver's license; will require passing MVR and a controlled‑substance test, may require background and criminal record check. Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations.
• Repeated physical effort including driving for several hours per day or at a time, standing and walking for extended periods, loading and unloading equipment into and out of company vehicles, walking on varying ground surfaces and frequently lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Working from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds.
• Operating hand/power tools, manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smartphones, physical agility to use arms, legs and hands repetitively.
• Working outdoors, safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions, including high‑speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes and construction substances.
• Comfortable around vehicles moving through work zones and maintaining constant awareness of surroundings on construction site including placement of machinery and equipment, other employees and construction activities.
• Vision adequate to see moving vehicles, read highway construction MOT signs, read instructions, manuals, reports and construction plans.
• Hearing adequate to hear approaching vehicles, audible commands at a distance from supervisors, conversations in person, and over the telephone.
• Communicating clearly – both written and verbally; ability to complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor.
• Working a flexible schedule which can include day or night shifts, weekends and/or holidays, adjusting to a changing work schedule, working overtime and working individually and as a team with other employees.
• Must maintain company standards post‑employment for background checks, criminal record, driving record and controlled substance/drug testing.
