Job OverviewWe are currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II.
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment, including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
- Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
- Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
- Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work‑related activities and time allocations.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings observed on Repair Orders (“RO”) using company‑issued iOS device and our proprietary TRAIT application.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
- Work independently and manage own daily schedule.
- Maintain a high level of productivity and meet most Standard Repair Times.
- Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary.
- Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings and notes.
- Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- High School Diploma or GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field, or an alternative combination such as a higher degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience.
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
- Must complete and pass a DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
- Valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining may be accepted in lieu of a DOT physical; otherwise a DOT physical is required.
- Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority regulations.
- Valid driver’s license required; candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
