Overview

Fleet Services By Cox Automotive is currently hiring a Shop Diesel Technician II to join our team to support future growth of the Company. Fleet Services is headquartered in Indianapolis and provides on-site mobile maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers, with 50+ nationwide service centers offering accident repair, painting, refurbishment, and heavy mechanical repair. We are supported by a 24/7 in-house call center providing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance anywhere, anytime.

Responsibilities
  • Perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical/electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned.
  • Under supervision of a Sr Shop Diesel Technician or higher, perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs; continue to learn additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques.
  • Follow safe operating practices; maintain a clean and safe work environment; assist in end-of-day cleanup.
  • Work with Service Writer to assess customer needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy customer expectations.
  • Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work, and allocate time effectively.
  • Document work according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings to Repair Orders using company devices or the Karmak application.
  • Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion; comply with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations; participate in required safety training.
  • Maintain shop-assigned service trucks; conduct safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment.
  • Use hand tools, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks; perform electrical, brake, cooling system, engine electronics, and other repairs as required.
  • Occasionally travel to customer locations to perform work as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties; participate in all required company training.
  • Compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations; ability to pass pre-employment DOT background screening and DOT physical; or provide a valid DOT medical card with required validity.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age; valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain Driver Qualification File.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities; ability to communicate information clearly.
  • Physical ability to lift and perform demanding tasks; ability to perform moderately heavy labor.
  • Ability to determine the tools and equipment needed; use logic to evaluate solutions.
Certifications
  • Required within 18 months: ASE T8 (PMI) certification
  • Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), T4 (Brakes), T5 (Suspension), T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems), T7 (HVAC), and ASE 608/609 certification
