WELDER II

Responsible for difficult and skilled blacksmith work in the fabrication and repair of a wide variety of SWA equipment. This position makes decisions within established policies and procedures. This position is a journeyman level work in welding.

• Fabricate and build truck bodies, grates, gates, tanks and related equipment.
• Makes welding repairs on drag lines, dozers, graders and other equipment as required.
• Maintain welding equipment in good working condition.
• Perform related work as required.

The ideal candidate possesses the education and experience listed below.

• Associate degree (A.
  
  A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three plus years related experience and/or training;
• Any combination of experience, education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B preferred.

• Considerable knowledge of methods used in welding, cutting, brazing and heating metals.
• Considerable skill in welding in flat, vertical and overhead welding and in acetylene and arc welding
• Mechanical aptitude with manual dexterity, thoroughness and dependability.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
