SummaryUnder the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanic A is responsible for performing maintenance activities as required to support all plant operations and assist the Maintenance Manager and/or Plant Manager in supporting the overall maintenance effort and team.
Essential Functions- Execute daily assignments to include but not limited to coordinating, supporting and performing all required plant reactive, preventative, proactive, project and setup support maintenance activities.
- Utilize the site’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to create the maintenance schedule, organize work orders and input maintenance parts inventory into the system.
- Assess, troubleshoot and repair manufacturing issues, such as pneumatic devices and hydraulic systems; rebuild gearboxes and drives, research technical data, procure parts, perform hand‑on repairs, and coordinate contractor support as needed in a timely fashion.
- Install equipment and needed piping.
- Set up production lines and repair and troubleshoot filling machines on production lines.
- Follow proper safety guidelines, including lock‑out/tag‑out procedures during all maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure GMP, SSOP, OSHA guidelines and best practices are met prior to commissioning or restarting machinery, equipment or production lines.
- Demonstrate and encourage a continuous improvement culture within the maintenance team by actively participating in continuous improvement processes and projects and by completing assigned projects on time and with high‑quality results.
- Assist in training, coaching and mentoring fellow mechanics/technicians on proper maintenance practices, including safe work practices, equipment theory of operation, proper troubleshooting techniques and best‑practice repair procedures.
- Identify and report unsafe machinery, equipment repairs and upgrades as needed.
- Conduct tasks in accordance with company policies and procedures and the laws and regulatory agencies: EPA, OSHA, Fire Department, FSMA, FDA, etc.
- Comply with company policies and procedures, maintain regular work attendance and support short‑notice overtime requirements when needed.
- High school diploma or GED required (Associate’s Degree, Trade School Certificate and/or Military Technical Training a plus).
- Must have five or more years of experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably under cGMP regulations.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, food processing machinery including horizontal and vertical mixers, Urschell dicers, pack‑line depositing, sealing and lidding equipment, circular and vacuum pumps, flow valves/fillers, temperature/level sensors, conveyors, air compressors, HVAC units, metal detectors, check weigher, and all essential machinery and equipment for the production of salsa, dips and spreads.
- Technical knowledge and ability in electrical troubleshooting, including replacement of three‑phase motors, and knowledge in PLCs (Allen Bradley or Siemens).
- Certification in Electrical, Mechanical or Electronics desirable.
- Related field training and continuing education a plus.
- Must be mechanically inclined and possess the ability to use all standard tools of the trade, including but not limited to basic hand and machine tools, various test equipment (as required) and be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and prints, as well as demonstrate the ability to safely and effectively operate basic shop machinery such as hydraulic presses, grinders, lathes, mills, drill presses, welders, jigs and tigs.

- Demonstrate effective leadership skills (experience in a leadership role preferred).
- Proficiency in computer (Microsoft Office, Excel) and basic math skills.
- High level HVAC skills including RTUs and/or condensers.
- Mechanical skills in shear mixer, pumps and/or welding TIG‑MIG.
- High skill in electrical circuits, including 480 AC/DC.
- Team oriented.
- Excellent time management.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Proficient reading, writing and verbal communication skills.
