The Receiving Agent is responsible for checking and receiving all goods and packages arriving at the hotel and ensuring deliveries meet the hotel’s quality, quantity, and price specifications.
OverviewThe Receiving Agent works within the timeframe and norms set by the Purchasing Manager, Executive Chef, and hotel operations.
Responsibilities- Perform tasks within the timeframe set by the Purchasing Manager and Executive Chef.
- Receive and control all goods, ensuring storage rooms and coolers are secured.
- Retrieve and distribute each outlet’s requisition daily.
- Check all orders and deliveries, verifying quantity, quality, weight, and appearance of products meet hotel standards.
- Put away products using FIFO method for easy location.
- Communicate deficiencies and urgent items to the Purchasing Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness of all storage rooms, walk‑in coolers, and freezers; organize boxes and cut flaps for clutter‑free environment.
- Assist in performing monthly inventory.
- Verify and log temperatures of walk‑in coolers and freezers, reporting problems immediately.
- Notify relevant departments of receipt of goods and arrange for collection or delivery.
- Receive, log, and distribute all Fed Ex and UPS packages for both residential and hotel guests following SOP for delivering guest packages.
- Properly dispose of empty boxes and pallets in designated area.
- Maintain loading dock organized, free, and clear of any deliveries, boxes, or pallets.
- Attend and complete all classes deemed necessary for the position.
- Adhere to rules and regulations established in Employee Handbook and hotel policies on Fire, Grooming, Health and Safety.
- Report hazards and defects immediately.
- Report for scheduled shift in proper uniform, including name tag, radio, and assigned keys.
- Perform any reasonable request made by department manager, chef, or leader, reporting challenges promptly.
- Responsibilities may be reviewed and amended as needed based on hotel, department, and positive guest experience needs.
- Work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Work in various climates and environments.
- Be forklift certified within first 90 days of hire.
- Basic knowledge of computers, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Required to sit for extended periods, lift up to 10 pounds, bend, reach, and use hands and fingers to operate keyboard.
