Laundry Operations Specialist

Summary

Position is a Laundry Operations Specialist - Environmental Management Services - at the West Palm Beach Veterans Health Care System (WPB VAHCS) - Florida. Laundry provides support to WPB VAHCS with all associated community-based outpatient clinics. The textile care facility operates 5 days a week - 8 hours per day with current annual production of over 1.8 million pounds annually. WPB VAHCS operates with approximately 2-316 employees and 234 volunteers.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement - 02/09/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement:
Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation - but must have been held in the Federal service.

An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year - it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade - as required by the announcement. In this instance - you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Specialized

Experience:

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization - to perform successfully the duties of the Laundry Operations Specialist - GS-11 position - and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

Examples of specialized experience would typically include - but are not limited to:
Prepare and manage budget estimates and present to administrative officials. Identify and recommend needed equipment repairs - upgrade or purchase. Monitor expenditure and cost in the operation of a program or service. Assure laundry and/or dry-cleaning processes and services operate efficiently. Evaluate - develop and/or recommend equipment and operations adjustments for efficiency. Maintain frequent contact with service lines and external vendors regarding supply and distribution needs.

Education:

Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M.

Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond successfully completed graduate education (above a master’s degree) and specialized experience as described above - which meet the total requirements for this grade level. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study.

Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. (Transcript required).
